Grade 3-6-A disappointment from the very first page. Amy Buckley, 11, her 13-year-old brother, and four of their friends (looking much younger than their years in the cartoon illustrations) accompany their parents on a business trip to Switzerland. However, the story is just a vehicle for a text blatantly filled with factual information on geology and physical geography, resulting in poor character development, too much description, and not enough cohesive action. To make matters worse, the combination of children having no common sense along with the lack of adult supervision repeatedly causes the youngsters to put themselves in life-threatening situations. Finally, the poor introductory map ruins the good intention of wanting to orient readers. Save your money and your readers from this misadventure.
