About the Author:

Salvatore Di Marco is regarded as one of the most important living poets writing in Sicilian, a separate language from Italian. He has written at least eight books of poetry and is a prolific critic and essayist on Sicilian poetry as well as dialect poetry in Italy.

Review:

It was high time that his work (Di Marco's) crossed the boundaries of Sicily and landed on this side of the Atlantic. Thanks to Gaetano Cipolla who edited and translated the work and Florence Russo who wrote the preface, English speakers can now become acquainted with Di Marco's poetry. --Journal of Italian Translation, vol VII, Spring 2012, p. 310.

The original volumes are L'acchianata di l'aciddara, Quaranta, Epigrafie siciliane, La ballata di la morti, and Cu rimita menti.
