Synopsis
This mountain biking guidebook for central Colorado concentrates on the rides in the valley in which Aspen and Snowmass Village are situated. The Roaring Fork Valley's mountain bike rides are as varied and extensive as its world-famous skiing. The 65 road and trail rides in the valley stretching from Aspen to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, were selected for their quality, variety, and location. There are rides to suit every taste, from that of a novice looking for an easy hour or two to that of a seasoned pro looking for an all-day grind. Maps and data on distance, elevation gain/loss, and difficulty are given for all the routes.

About the Author
Writer & photographer Richard Compton has ridden, hiked, climbed, and skied in the Roaring Fork Valley for over 20 years. The author of an earlier biking guide to the Aspen area, Richard has also published work in Outside, Powder, Mountain Bike and Cross-Country Skier. When not riding or writing, Richard teaches skiing in Aspen and works for environmental protection out of his home in El Jebel, which he shares with his wife Beverly, two cats, and a dog.
