KIMBALL THOMSON is president and chief executive officer of Next Phase Communications, a full-service public relations and marketing firm in Salt Lake City. Thomson has more than 15 years experience in communications, marketing, and business-development strategy, working with organizations in the private and public sectors that range from nascent start-ups to the World Bank. A prolific writer and editor, Thomson was cofounder, publisher, and editor in chief of Digital iQ magazine and continues as an editor. He authored multiple editions of the Utah Facts Book. He has also written speeches for many prominent leaders in business and government. Thomson currently edits the State of Utah s economic development publication, Business Utah, and is a contributing editor of Utah Business magazine. Thomson obtained his undergraduate education at the University of California at Berkeley, where he served on the Provost s Council. While there, he created original curricula on the then-emerging European Union. He received his Master of Business Administration from Brigham Young University.
