Synopsis
"The Hunley: Submarines, Sacrifice & Success in the Civil War." Cloth binding to library standards with gold imprinting on spine and front cover. No dust jacket on this rare binding of this edition. This well-researched book is extremely timely, as the Confederate submarine H.L. Hunley, which lay off Sullivan's Island near Charleston, South Carolina, was raised recently from its watery grave. The Hunley was the first submarine in history to sink an enemy warship.
It has an appendix, index and other information not used in the revised edition. Collectors of Hunley memorbilia might want to buy both editions.

About the Author
Mark Ragan is the official historian and a member of the Board of Directrors of the non-profit organization, which is currently in charge of the conservation of the famous wreck. He owns and operates a small submarine, which he has used in his underwater searches. He dove on the Hunley and worked with the team that investigated the Housatonic (the Hunley's victim). He had a part in the TNT movie "The Hunley," which was based in part on the first edition of his book. He is a frequent speaker at Civil War Roundtables.
