Synopsis
Our hero is a quiet, upstanding citizen of Athos, an obstetrician in a world in which reproduction is carried out entirely via uterine replicator, without the aid of living women. Problem: the 200-year-old cultures are not providing eggs the way they used to, and attempts to order replacements by mail have failed catastrophically. But when Ethan is sent to find out what happened and acquire more eggs, he finds himself in a morass of Cetagandan covert ops and Jackson Whole politics - and the only person who's around to rescue him is the inimitable - and, disturbingly, female - Elli Quinn, Dendarii rent-a-spy. About the Author
Lois McMaster Bujold is considered today's leading proponent of character-driven adventure science fiction. Her chronicles of the Vorkosigan family have won her legions of admirers throughout the world. Her fantasy novel, The Spirit Ring, was published in 1993; another fantasy, The Curse of Chalion, was published by Eos in 2001. It was the first of a new series of connected novels that includes Paladin of Souls. She is currently working on additions to her universes.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. "Ethan of Athos" is the third novel in Lois McMaster Bujold's award-winning "Miles Vorkosigan" series. This is its first standalone hardcover edition, published by NESFA Press in 2003. This collectible copy was signed (with no personalization or inscription) by Ms. Bujold in my presence in 2007 at the University Book Store in Seattle WA. The book is in near fine condition, marred only by a tiny bit of spine lean, and a very light bump on base of its spine. Its binding is sound. Covers are unmarked and otherwise unworn, with bright silver titles on its spine. Pages are unworn and -- other than the author's signature -- unmarked. Not a remainder. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is in fine condition: whole, bright, unmarked and unworn. I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description. Signed by Author(s).
