Jamie Brown is a poet, playwright and fiction writer who is currently working on a novel about the fall of the Roman Empire from the barbarian perspective. He is currently an associate editor of Wordwrights! Magazine, Contributing Editor of the Sulphur River Literary Review, and Fiction Editor of the Washington Review. He and his brother, the noted actor David Palmer Brown of New York, founded the Northwest Educatonal Workshop Theater (for Teens) in 1990, and he has been the founder and coordinator of two well-known Washington, D.C. poetry reading series as well as a teacher of an Advanced Fiction Workshop at Georgetown University and an introductory-level workshop in poetry, "Poetry: Form, Function and You" at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. His Creative Writing Workshop students regularly get published. He has read from his poetry and fiction at Shakespeare and Company in Paris, France; Iota in Arlington; the Takoma Cafe in Takoma Park, Md.; Dylan's Cafe in Georgetown, D.C.; and the Writer's Center in Montgomery County Maryland, among many other venues. He is a teacher at George Washington University and is not paid enough for the work he does there.
