LOU ORFANELLA believes writing is a process of excavation as much as creation. This literary strip-mining unearths the physical, emotional, and spiritual layers of the writer, revealing the basic truths that give power to his writing. Based in New York, he teaches writing at Western Connecticut State University, communications at Dutchess Community College, and English in the Valhalla, New York, school system. His work has appeared in national and regional publications including The New York Daily News, New York Teacher, English Journal, College Bound, and WordWrights. He offers writing workshops on topics including poetry, memoir, journalism, fiction, and family history.
