Every once in awhile, a book such as Hormone Balance: A Matter of Life and Health materializes and literally changes the lives of those who read it. The topic of hormones and how they affect our lives and health ranks as one of the most important subjects written on in this decade for women and health care professionals. Registered nurse, speaker, and author, Kristine Klitzke, has thoroughly researched a form of hormone imbalance known as estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance largely affects women of all ages among industrialized populations like North America and can be associated with a number of negative and even life-threatening health conditions. Specific chapters clearly explain how this type of hormone imbalance often plays a significant role in breast cancer, menopausal symptoms, PMS, headaches, hypothyroidism, unexplained weight gain, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, fibrocystic breasts, miscarriage and infertility, vaginal dryness and low libido, postpartum depression, and more. Other major themes include preventative medicine, the "darker side" of prescribed synthetic hormones like birth control pills and postmenopausal HRT, as well as the documented benefits of more natural methods of healing and restoring hormone balance including natural progesterone therapy. Timely, pertinent, and practical, Hormone Balance: A Matter of Life and Health provides a doorway of understanding the predominant health concerns of women today. This book is a must-read for women in all stages of life as well as for health care professionals who regularly encounter female patients.
