Education is much more than what happens in a classroom. It begins at birth, (if not before) and continues day after day, year after year, experience upon experience as long as a person lives. Lessons learned by Dr. Dois Deleware Dallas, and shared in this book, are indeed many and varied. Some are unique and some are special. Many came through pain and sorrow. Others traced to happy times. Some lessons were learned while teaching, others as a student. But most of these lessons were just routine to life in an age in Alaska's and America's recent past on the edge of the good old days. The concept of Educrats (bureaucrat of the education system), at least in higher education, is fundamental to this work. Most of us, if not all, have been or continue to be an educrat. Dr. Dois Deleware Dallas, the book and the man, is an honest Alaska educrat. This work is his confessions.

About the Author:

Dois DeLeware Dallas began life on a ranch outside Tatum, New Mexico in 1923. Having worked in the oil industry as a petroleum engineer, and the education system as instructor and professor, he has enjoyed living in many places across the United States including Alaska. Professor Dallas, with a Doctorate in Engineering, has taught at UND, UAF, UM, NMSU, and EMNU. He married Dorothy Fjerstad in 1948 and they are the parents of four girls and one boy: Linda, Monica, Cynthia, Debbie, and Mark. He has six grandchildren. Experience in the oil patch and as a soldier in World War II, coupled with his time as a student and teacher, and his being a parent and grandparent qualifies him to write Dr. Dois DeLeware Dallas, An Honest Alaskan Educrat.
