This book is the story of my ancestors who were caught up in the Civil War. These small farmers were swept up by the tides of war and fight at Charleston and at Richmond and Petersburg before the war visits their own doorsteps. I have taken tales my grandmother told me along with regimental histories and official records to tell this story of war in the Carolinas and Virginia.
