Edward D. Webster's book A Year of Sundays is a richly thoughtful, multifaceted account, and like all the best books of travel, it has the immediacy and the markings of years of gestation. This is his first book, in a career that has been in distinctly worldly, pragmatic veins. Webster grew up in Connecticut, and he stayed in New England long enough to earn a masters degree in mathematics. Then he started traveling, including westward to California for a degree in environmental engineering. Now a contract administrator for the Ventura County Transportation Commission, Webster and his wife, Marguerite P. Webster, have co-facilitated group therapy sessions for blind people, and they give talks to organizations for the visually impaired about the implications to a relationship as one member of a couple loses her or his sight. Ed Webster is writing his second book while living with Marguerite and their feline companions in Ojai, California.Review:

The double appeal of two dreams fulfilled... a poignant and inspiring chronicle. -- Chuck Champlin, critic at large, Los Angeles Times
Wonderful armchair reading--a year out of the rat race; filled with asides on how Europeans live; an excellent gift. -- The International Writers Magazine: Hackwriters.com, June 17. 2004
[An adventure] ... full of new friends, bad plumbing, wonderful food, and homesickness; [a] feline-friendly foray into the Old World. -- Library Journal, August 2004
