About the Author:

John Raymond Gourdin is a Senior Fellow with the United States Colored Troops Institute (USCTI); a board member of the United States Colored Troops Living History Association (USCTLHA); and a re-enactor with the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. He was born in South Carolina and earned a B.A. in Economics from Chapman University, an M.S. in Economics from the University of Southern California, and an M.P.S. in Public Policy from the University of Maryland. John is the author of Voices from the Past: 104th USCT Infantry Regiment and Borrowed Identity: 128th USCT Infantry Regiment both, Colored Civil War Solders from South Carolina.
