Where you go from there is another matter entirely. But I think… Whether language has been destructive or constructive is another—I suppose I’ve been a deconstructionist most of my life, trying to remove false imposed ideas so I can arrive at some sort of authentic qualitative existence. And certainly I am aware that that qualitative existence is divorced from word in any conceptual way. It could be interesting to say, “Where can word be if it isn’t conceptual?” So it’s simply the flamboyance of sound, as the flamboyance of music, which I tend to think that the sort of metaphor of poetry is: it’s something that doesn’t attach itself to the pragmatic use of word.
