The beginning of my illness occurred in 1977, at the age of
twenty-five, in my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Around that time I
experienced several incidents that I thought were strange, but
dismissed them as episodes of clumsiness. I discuss some of those
incidents in Chapter Three, "My Young Adult Experiences."
