Have you ever longed for happiness that stuck around, long after the party was over, long after the loving telephone conversation, long after the lights went out? Have you ever wondered if happiness lives in a space other from you? Or wondered if happiness is predisposed to travel in certain people's bloodstreams-but not yours? Why does continual joy seem so hard to capture?
In the author's own quest for balance, Shannon S. Carlson learned there are three truths to happiness. The first truth is lasting happiness can never be found externally. There is no destination in the world where you can find lasting joy. The second truth is that happiness dwells inside you. Above all else, the third truth is that happiness is born from living a life in balance.
Life balance does not come from anywhere outside yourself. It can not be found at a shopping mall, at work, in a cocktail or on a tropical vacation. It comes as a result of living from the root or core of your existence. Like an onion, imagine peeling back the layers that make you who you are. You eventually discover a nucleus; an inner energy that dwells within you; a universal truth that is unblemished and vibrant. At your core, hidden under layers of pain, role-playing, and patterned behaviors, a state of balance exists. When you come to the center of yourself, your struggling ends and the integrity found at the core of who you are waits to gift you with happiness.
Living Your Life in Balance is your blueprint to discover that happiness already lies inside you. This book will help you find the happiness you have longed for. You will learn how to:
-Clarify where you currently are in life and how you got there
-Vizualize who you want to become and take the steps to become this person
-Develop a connection to your core energy
-Radiate integrity in your personal and professional life
-Achieve ongoing happiness and fulfillment that will bring you through your down times
-Establish courage to live life to the fullest and take the leap to be all you were born to be
Lasting happiness no longer has to be elusive. This book is your guide for an intangible quest, allowing you access to a journey of the invisible self that cannot be seen or heard. With its self-reflective exercises and insights, this guided-journal routes you into your inner most cosmos and will gift you with awareness and clarity surrounding your deepest struggles and insight on how to overcome these struggles.
A power will awaken within you that you did not know existed and a new persona will emerge that is more balanced and joyful. It is only then that your internal, lasting happiness can be revealed.

On a crisp November day in 2003, the timeliness of the Universe tracked Shannon down on a beach in Santa Barbara. In the midst of a self-development course, she received an epiphany. The years she had been searching for that elusive magic bottle of perfection which she thought would bring balance and complete happiness to her life dissolved into the sand. In this moment, Shannon learned that the perfection she had sought throughout her entire life had accumulated into stress, fatigue, and feelings of negativity about her self-worth. At that time, she had not realized that the only way to invite integrity and happiness back into her life and to find life balance was to look bravely into the metaphorical mirror of her self to see who she had become.
On the sands of Santa Barbara, Shannon recognized her new beginning. It set her on a path to write this book about the fundamentals of life-balance. As enlightenment sprang forth and as she learned about herself, Shannon grabbed pen, journal and computer and started writing.
