Cobbwebs was a series of columns which appeared in the Reno Gazette-Journal from 1965-1997, written by Ty Cobb, a longtime Nevada newspaperman. They share almost four decades of people, places, history and sport in Northern Nevada, written by one of its native sons.

Ty Cobb was born in Virginia City, Nevada in 1915. After grammar school on the Comstock, his family moved to Reno where he attended Northside Junior High School. Returning to Virginia City, he graduated from the Fourth Ward School. College years were spent at the University of Nevada where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity and graduated with a degree in English. He began working for the Nevada State Journal as a reporter in 1938. After stints as sports editor and managing editor, he retired as the papers Cobbwebs, began in 1965, and over 3,000 have been published. Over the years Ty received numerous awards, including the Nevada Press Associations Silver Makeup Rule, its highest honor; induction into the Nevada Wolf Packs Hall of Fame; and the University of Nevadas Distinguished Nevadan award.
