About the Author

James A. Herrick is the Guy VanderJagt Professor of Communication at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, where he has served for ten years as the Chair of the Department of Communication. He received his M.A. from the University of California, Davis, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Professor Herrick is the author of several books and numerous scholarly articles and reviews. His scholarly interests include argumentation, the history of rhetoric, and religious controversy.
