When this book first came across my desk... well, I must admit--I was almost too disorganized to read it! As a publisher, editor, author, mother, girl-scout leader, spokesperson, wife and more, I have a few too many hats on my hat rock and often feel I'm taking 100 steps backward for each step forward. I decided to put Debbie's concepts to the test and see if they would work with my hectic and demanding lifestyle. Not only did they work, they worked wonders. Probably the point that really hit home for me was where Debbie wrote about different styles of organizing. I confess, if you emptied my office you would probably find 2 dozen different day books, to-do lists and other remnants of organizational systems gone awry. In Home Management 101, Debbie emphasizes that many of the "do-it-all systems" we can purchase, aren't practical for the every day user. We need to customize our systems and make them our own. As she says, organizing is not a one-size-fits-all business. Debbie shows you how to customize your system, test it and make it work. She offers loads of ideas and tips to get organized without buying expensive planners or plastic bins or labeled spice jars. This is real stuff, for real life, for real busy parents. And did I mention that the book is fun to read? Debbie's lighthearted approach and enetertaining writing bring fun to an otherwise often-dreaded subject. After only an hour or two of reading, you'll be ready to get started on a new system and a new "organized you."From the Author:
As an organizing coach, my life’s mission is to help busy parents manage their time more effectively, reduce the clutter in their home and offices, and live a more balanced life. This book is a collection of practical organizing techniques to help you in your quest to get it together. You too can learn the skills that it takes to be organized and teach your teammates how to help you run a smooth household.
After over 15 years of studying, researching and regrouping, I've developed an organizing system and helped parents throughout the country implement it successfully in their own homes. This book shares all the information you will need to create a successful, easy-to-maintain system for your family. By learning the basic skills of an organized parent, you can react in a calm professional manner so that you control your household, rather than allowing it to control you.
