About the Author

The late Clay Schoenfeld had a long and distinguished career in academia becoming both emeritus dean and emeritus professor of the University of Wisconsin at Madison. His journalism background provided a foundation for teaching and writing. He wrote extensively about higher education leadership and mass communication and was an advocate for young professionals as they entered teaching and administration.

Clay was also involved in ecology issues, as he said long before they were known as ecology. He was the founding executive editor of "The Journal of Environmental Education" and presented classes and seminars across the United States.

Bob Magnan came to the field of higher education writing and publishing after many years of teaching. He holds a BA in English and an MA in French from Michigan State University and a PhD in French from Indiana University. He taught for 13 years while involved in editing journals, translating, research, and language textbook development. He was the long-time Managing Editor of The Teaching Professor newsletter and is currently involved in publishing and editing.
