Ken's waterborne career began as a young child after taking a ride with his grandfather on New York's Staten Island ferry. Ken worked his way through undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate college aboard his 42-foot, Maine-built lobster boat. He earned his 100-ton Master's license, was a charter boat and delivery captain, as well as instructing others who wanted to do the same. Ken was active in the luxury charter industry, working aboard private yachts along the East Coast and in the Bahamas.
