Stephen J. Pavlidis has been cruising and living aboard his 40 sloop IV Play since the winter of 1990. In the Bahamas during February of 1993, he met Ray Darville, the new Warden of the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park. Ray soon drew him into a working relationship with the Park as a volunteer Deputy Warden. In this role he quickly gained an intimate knowledge of the waters of the Exumas. Realizing that The Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park deserved a bit more recognition than was given in even the best guides to the area, he and Ray produced A Cruising Guide to The Exuma Cays Land & Sea Park The favorable response to that publication in turn led to the publication of The Exuma Guide which covers the entire Exuma island chain in addition to the Land and Sea Park. The Exuma Guide was originally published in 1995 and has been reprinted 8 times. Since publishing The Exuma Guide, Steve has gone on to write cruising guides covering all of the Bahamas and most of the Caribbean as well. He is currently living aboard his boat in Guatemala on the Río Dulce writing articles for magazines and planning future projects.
