About the Author
Consider his background. Once a minor league baseball player (in over his head he says). Then an assistant general manager/publicity director of the Baltimore Colts -- when the franchise was being built into a two-time world champion. And for more than 50 years, a nationally recognized sports writer.
Mr. Steadman is the only Maryland writer to ever be awarded "The Best Sports Story of the Year." And in 1999, he was selected to the National Sportswriters & Sportscasters Hall of Fame in Salisbury, N.C. He is the author of six previous books, including The Best (and Worst) of Steadman, The Greatest Football Game Ever Played, Miracle Men of Football and From Colts to Ravens.
