Synopsis
This book is the companion reader to the book We All Can Read: Third Grade to Adult Edition. Sentences and stories contained in this supplemental fluency reader are correlated to specific units from the core book providing students with additional opportunity to practice and apply concepts recently taught.Reading rests upon a hierarchy of skill development. Students must become capable of reading text automatically and effortlessly. Decoding accuracy and fluency improve over time with oral reading practice.The goal for students working in this supplemental reader is for them to be able to read the sentences and short stories with both accuracy and fluency. Fluency is a skill that can and must be taught. Students who receive fluency training experience marked improvement in their ability to read with accuracy, fluency and comprehension.It is critical for students at this developmental stage of reading to encounter words that are phonetically consistent. This book uses decodable text – text that is composed primarily of words that contain only phonetic elements previously introduced. Words containing phonic elements not yet taught in this program are not included in the text.
