But how to recreate the authentic dishes of the islands at home? SUGAR AND SPICE AND EVERYTHING IRIE: Savoring Jamaica’s Flavors is the next best thing to being there. Veda Nugent and Marrett Green take you on a charming culinary adventure to discover the best of down-home Jamaican and Caribbean cooking.
Marrett Green, Veda’s son, moved with his family to Canada at age six. After seven years helping Veda operate her restaurants, he moved on to study broadcast journalism. From 1992 to 1999, Marrett worked as an award-winning television newscaster at several Canadian stations, culminating as the weekend news anchor at Global Television in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 1999 Marrett became the Media Relations Officer for the regional government in Greater Vancouver. As a communications professional, Marrett writes articles and has been published most recently in the Journal of Commerce and West Coast Families Magazine. Marrett is currently working on a children’s book for his ever-curious two-year-old sons, who live with him in Vancouver.
