Joe Matt is justly famed in comix for the embarrassing frankness with which he reveals his personality, life, and obsessions. Disturbingly shameless and self-absorbed, Joe Matt writes about himself, warts and all! And in his new Peepshow collection, titled Fair Weather, he wants to share his suburban 1970s childhood with you. Save the tears, nothing bad ever happened to Joe Matt. That he didn’t have coming. Joe Matt is socked in the stomach! Of course he deserved it! Completely unsentimental, hilarious and strangely endearing.

In 1987, tired of coloring dopey superhero comics for a living, Joe Matt started writing and drawing a "diary", a funny, pathetic, page-by-page account of his daily life. These single-page comics were later published in various magazines, including Drawn & Quarterly, and by 1992 Matt had his own comic book series, Peepshow, devoted to his peculiar form of autobiographical angst. Matt was born in 1963 in Philadelphia where, evidently, he never learned the meaning of shame. Peepshow is a strangely callow depiction of his failures. Matt's unflattering, although not inaccurate self-portrayal, has provoked one of the liveliest letter columns in comix. Witness a typical sentiment from readers: "No wonder you're all alone - you're just a pathetic fucking loser!".
Joe Matt started his comics life as a lowly illustrator colouring dopey superhero comics for a living. When he tired of this he started writing a 'diary', a funny, pathetic, page-by-page account of his daily life. These single-page comics were later published in various magazines, including Drawn & Quarterly, and by 1992 Matt had his own comic book series Peepshow devoted to his own peculiar form of autobiographical angst.
