Synopsis
Acute coronary syndromes (ACS: myocardial infarction and unstable angina) are one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. The breadth and intensity of investigation into ACS means that it is very difficult to keep up-to-date with this new knowledge. The Editors have assembled a group of international experts to deliver a concise handbook on the pathophysiology, epidemiology, and treatment of ACS. Chapters are focused and evidence-based, and will provide readers with easy access to practical information on the diagnosis and management of patients with both ST elevation and non-ST elevation ACS.

About the Author
Deepak Bhatt is an interventional cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and interventional cardiology, and is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the New York Academy of Sciences. He serves as the Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship and the Associate Director for the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Marcus Flather has been the Director of the Clinical Trials and Evaluation Unit at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust since August 1996. He is also an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine. Prior to this, he worked as a Senior Research Fellow at McMaster University in Canada and at the Clinical Trials Service Unit in Oxford. He is a trained cardiologist whose primary research interest is clinical trials in ACS. Broader interests include clinical trial methods, meta-analysis, and health services research.
