An excellent look back at steam days with particular reference to Haymarket shed and some of the characters and workings found there. The book follows the author's time from when he joined the Railways and clearly illustrates the labour intensive day to day workings required to allow steam loco's to run, and gives the reader a feel of how dirty the job was and indeed how dangerous it could be. There were also some adventures which must have relieved what surely was monotonous work, but which was done mainly with a pride in what was achieved. Lavishly illustrated throughout with potographs from private collections, almost all published here for the first time. Ref I 1. Seller Inventory # 036499
