Because of the advancement in communication technologies, children face a greater risk of exploitation in numerous ways, in areas such as - but not limited to - bullying, identity theft, and sexual exploitation. This book explores technology-specific behaviors - via the web, e-mail, chatrooms, texting, etc. - that facilitate child abuse. It discusses the offending behavior of adults who exploit teenagers' vulnerability for inappropriate sexual contact. It looks at the behavior of other children and young people who participate in cyber-bullying and the on-line posting of indecent images. It examines why people create different on-line identities and how others are 'taken in' by this practice. The book also discusses the social, corporate, and legal/judicial responses toward this use and abuse of communication technology. Child Exploitation and Communication Technologies is for all professionals involved in the safeguarding of children.
