This book offers new insights into how we can connect, or disconnect, with those who matter most to us in business and in life in general. It draws on the latest neuroscienti? c research and explains the principles in accessible, everyday language. The Think Feel Know model is a simple yet powerful representation of some of the inner workings of our brains and our hearts and their affect on our everyday behavior in relationships, in teams and in the leadership of organizations. It uses real-life examples to illustrate the power of these insights: an informative and exciting read for anyone directly engaged in supporting, developing or leading people's behavior.

About the Author:

Clive was born in 1954 in Blackwood, a town in the mining valleys of South Wales. After being educated at Pontllanfraith grammar school, he went on to study sociology at Warwick University. He then emabarked on a corporate career, which started in human resources with Lucas Industries and Thorn EMI. He then switched into business management when he joined Ericsson: here he fulfilled a number of senior management roles, including chief operating officer for the UK fixed telephony division. He then spent some time in a change management role in London before becoming CEO of Pink Roccade UK, an IT business, which he ran for five years until 2005.Since then Clive has returned exclusively to coaching. His main clients are people in business, typically business leaders in large corporate organizations, but also in smaller entrepreneurial businesses. He has also coached in professional sport and done occasional work in education, public services, charities, prisons and faith organizations. Clive is based in Cardiff.

Review:

"The corporate world is saturated with management theories, so it is refreshing to come across a book that offers something completely different yet feels like a discovery that you can't believe hasn't been made before. Backed up by science and real application it just makes sense. Adoption into an organizational context requires no deliberation. The Think Feel Know model resonates powerfully with all of us who have people at the heart of our business, believe in people and want to make the most of our people. The most complex machines on the planet suddenly explained: how good is that?" -- Debbie Jones, senior vice president, corporate development, Inmarsat plc - the world's leading satellite communications business "Like many business people I am acutely aware of how dependent our business is on making the most of our people talent. The Think Feel Know model has the power to engage us all from established leaders to those just starting out on their careers. Old hierarchical approaches to management no longer work. This book offers exciting alternatives for the future." -- Matt Phelan, director 4Ps Marketing "This wonderfully paced book is packed with extraordinary insight into the ultimately doomed organizational design of big corporations in the early 21st century. My experience of impotence of leaders in business in handling emotion is completely and so reassuringly explained by Clive Hyland. His passionate urgent call for archaic `immoral' culture of `measure, measure, measure' to change is a dialog opened decisively in this great book. And my next consulting engagement paraphrasing President Reagan will start with `Mr CEO, rip down those values statements'. It dissects the myth of pursuing `an entrepreneurial culture' sought so enthusiastically by corporate west. One of the reasons I love consulting so much is there are pockets of wonderfully inspired corporate executives who get this powerful understanding that they have to change - you have put this argument so convincingly to paper; thank you. The brilliant analogy of the interaction between the three layers of the brain, and the fascinating externalization of our own heartbeat is so cool it hurts. I read this book with so much excitement, my adrenalin levels are still raised days later." -- Dr Adam Poole, ex-surgeon, ex-principal consultant, and entrepreneur
