Replacing a charitable dispensary, the Bridgnorth Infirmary was the brain-child of James Milman Coley, a medical man with a vision; it opened in February 1836 and continued serving the needs of the town and the deserving poor of Bridgnorth in South Shropshire until its incorporation into the NHS in July 1948. Based on closely detailed, original research, this is an illustrated history of the Infirmary and the people involved in its development.
