José Federico Burgos es un pintor frustrado devenido falsificador, atrapado en un esplendor surrealista y algo alarmante que involucra una obra maestra flamenca, un vagabundo pícaro y dos hermanos mellizos tan intimidantes como ingeniosos. Él bebe demasiado alcohol, deambula por la zona y, cada día que pasa sin lograr copiar la pintura, se acerca un poco más hacia lo que realmente sucede tras los altos muros del jardín.En homenaje a grandes como Juan Rulfo y Luis Barragán, Puertas demasiado pequeñas de Ave Barrera recorre la Guadalajara de fines del siglo XX con la exuberancia y excentricidad de una novela picaresca del siglo XVIII. About the Author
Ave Barrera (Guadalajara, 1980) es escritora y editora. Su primera novela titulada Puertas demasiado pequeñas (Alianza, 2016) obtuvo el premio Sergio Galindo. El libro de artista 21,000 Princesas, realizado en coautoría con Lola Horner obtuvo el primer lugar en el Concurso Internacional de Libro de Artista Lía 2015. Su más reciente novela, Restauración obtuvo el Premio Lipp la Brasserie en 2018. Desde 2019 coordina la Colección Vindictas, de la UNAM. Su más novelas más reciente se titula Notas desde el interior de la ballena y fue publicada en 2024.
Ave Barrera (Guadalajara, Mexico, 1980) is a writer and editor. Her first novel, Puertas demasiado pequeñas (2016) won the Sergio Galindo Award and was published by Charco Press under the title The Forgery (2022). Her second novel, Restoration, won the 2018 Lipp Prize. Ave has also published short stories and essays in anthologies and electronic media. Since 2019 she coordinates the Vindictas Collection for the National University of Mexico. In 2023 she received a grant from the Kislak Foundation for a writing residency at the University of Florida, USA. Her new novel is Notas desde el interior de la ballena (Notes from Inside the Whale ).
