Learn from the lives of exceptional people in this unique collection of tributes given to family, friends, and business colleages by the author. The recipients are as diverse as William Hudnet, the mayor of Indianapolis (IN), Craig's father, who received an honorary doctorate from Greenville College, and several colleages from Edward Jones Investments. In Craig Tidball's words, "This book is about the masters, the artists of life, who work among us every day and their medium is the canvas fabric of our communities.... My hope in sharing these tributes is to prompt the reader to observe persons of character who enrich their own lives and who in turn challenge us to enrich others."

From the Back Cover:
Mix a few "Wats" Tidball and Bonnie Barber genes and get a handful of shockingly gifted children. Then dip one of them--this author--in a unique sauce of holy wisdom to enhance his perceptual acuity. Let him simmer through a few decades of painful journeys to the brink of purgatory while suffering at the hands of many physicians just to be sure he treasures life and savors all its players. Bring him to the podium every few months through it all to speak words of farewell, of empowerment, or of blessing on family and friends in transition, and you get Portraits in Character.

Here are some of the best classic words of description and humor I have ever seen set down to celebrate uncommon people. Each of the salutes to those within the target of his address becomes a parable in the creative hands of Craig Tidball. His tribute art is an invitation to all of us to "think nobly" and to celebrate people we have known and loved. Who will suitably honor Craig when he is due his own blessing--surely someone who has learned the art of celebration from Craig himself on the many occasions Craig stood and delivered?

Donald M. Joy, Ph. D., Professor of Human Development and Family Studies, Asbury Theological Seminary
