This is a book of academic cartoons. Inspired by the book, Just Don’t Do It: A Fractured and Irreverent Look at the Ph.D. Culture, these 144 cartoons are original, new, and outrageously funny. Like the book upon which they are based, no aspect of the academic culture is sacrosanct. Regardless of whether you have a Ph.D., are in a Ph.D. program, or are considering a program—or know someone who meets one of these three criteria—you will find yourself laughing out loud, crying, or perhaps both at the same time. And behind Grobman and King’s offbeat humor is a message about the often dehumanizing nature of the process of obtaining one’s Ph.D., and the need for reform.
