Profoundly touched by a spiritual experience that transformed her life, author Lyn Valverde found her purpose: to work with the dying. She began hospice volunteer work in 1998 through Dannion Brinkley s organization, THE TWILIGHT BRIGADE, Compassion In Action. The Twilight Brigade is a non-profit national volunteer organization dedicated to educate the community on issues of death and dying, and to recruit volunteers to be at the bedside of the dying, particularly the bedsides of veterans. Lyn founded a local Twilight Brigade chapter in Sacramento, California in 1998. Through her local Twilight Brigade chapter and with the help of her volunteers, the Sacramento chapter recruited and trained hundreds of volunteers who worked at the local AIDS hospice and the Sacramento Hospice Consortium. At the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sacramento, Lyn visited many veterans who were seriously and terminally ill and was touched by their need for companionship and advocacy. She visited patients at the local hospitals, nursing homes and in the home. Lyn became a Twilight Brigade Certified Local Trainer in 1999 and later in 2005 became a Certified National Trainer and an active member of the National Training Committee. Lyn continues to facilitate Twilight Brigade trainings and leads her own Reverence Breath Workshops. She is widely known and respected as an inspirational speaker and compassionate facilitator. In the Sacramento area Lyn conducted short lectures and workshops on how to be with the dying for Sierra Community College, American River College, the VA Medical Center in Sacramento, Marshall Hospital, East West Bookstore. She also presented a one-hour opening speech for Dannion Brinkley at the Unity Church. On a national level, she conducted trainings in Northern California, Fort Collins, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Atlanta, Georgia. Lyn received an award on behalf of THE TWILIGHT BRIGADE, Compassion In Action during a regional veterans conferenceReview:
