For as long as Al Marquis can remember, he owned a cowboy hat, boots, a gun and holster. And now, while still practicing law, he playfully recalls some fond (and "mostly" truthful) memories of his ranching adventures. Illustrator R. Jerry Brown uses pen and ink to capture much of the fun and spirit found in Al’s stories. As one Boss Lady describes them: "You’ll laugh and cry as these poems touch your funny bone and your heart. Who can’t relate to learning the facts of life, driving way too fast in your parents’ car, or pestering your siblings?" Includes 24 line drawings and over 20 personal photographs.

Cowboy poet Al Marquis has been a practicing trial lawyer with the Las Vegas law firm of Marquis & Aurbach for the past 25 years. During that time, he has done some serious writing. But on the side, cowboy poetry gave him the opportunity to redirect his writing skills from the absolutely serious to the totally frivolous. He takes great pride in the fact that he knows all his poems by heart and loves scheduling appearances to perform the rhymes and rhythms that he creates.
Artist R. Jerry Brown graduated from Dallas Art Institute and began his artistic career at Zale’s Jewelers home office in Dallas. After leaving Zale’s, he was primarily involved with the music and entertainment industry. In 1994, Jerry started "Sportart" and now is a full time illustrator, focusing on the pen and ink medium.Review:
"A rollickin' good read ... you don't have to be a cowboy to enjoy." -- Marily Gubler, Sandy Valley Ranch, Nevada
