FANTASY / MAGIC / ADVENTURE
This story is about a Montana boy named Eric who goes to visit Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Les on their farm.
There is no TV in the house, and Eric gets bored and looks around for something to do.
His aunt goes to the attic and brings down a book. He sees a dragon sleeping on the front page of the book, but there are no words on the other pages.
He asks his aunt about this and she says: No, of course, there are no words on the pages, Eric. The dragon has not told you the stories yet!
As the dragon tells the stories, the words appear on the pages. The words spoken by the dragon are in cinnamon color.
This book has lots of adventure, mystery, and exciting times . . . but NO VIOLENCE therein.
It is the goal of the authors to offer children and adults a good fantasy-read without the usual violence: "We call this book our Montana Fairytale."

Co-author Betty Neff Balch grew up in Oregon, worked as a registered nurse for over 50 years, and traveled extensively throughout the world. During this time, she also earned a Master’s degree in Vocational Education, a Master’s degree in Career Counseling, and a Doctorate in Education. After retirement in 1998, Betty has been able to spend more time with her family and friends, particularly those in Montana, Washington, and Hawaii. Her two children Charles and Susan, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and her husband George were enough motivation to help her finish writing (with co-author Jean Poythress) and do the illustrations for The Tales of the Cinnamon Dragon. This is Dr. Balch’s first published book for children of all ages.
Co-author Jean Hill Poythress grew up in Massachusetts; was a dance studio owner/instructor for 36 years; and worked for Martin Marietta, General Dynamics, and General Electric in the missile field for a total of 12 years. After retirement in 1994 and following a car accident, Jean now repairs antique dolls along with writing stories for the Cinnamon Dragon to tell. She receives creative inspiration from her 4 children, 15 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren while enjoying life in the Big Sky countryside of Montana with her retired Air Force husband Bill. This book is Jean’s second publication.
