Lee Gaillard has written more than 100 articles and book reviews (many of them on defense issues and aviation), which have appeared in Defense News, The Seattle Times, Technology Review, San Diego Union-Tribune, Air & Space/Smithsonian, Proceedings, Marine Corps Times, The Washington Times, Submarine Review, Armed Forces Journal International, as well as other magazines and newspapers around the country.
Gaillard holds a bachelor s degree from Yale University and a master s degree from Middlebury College, specializing in English and American literature. Following his university studies, he spent time in the Marine Corps Reserve and in publishing (at Time-Life International in New York). In addition, Gaillard has worked for a French airline, worked in education in Greece and the United States (including many years in school administration in the United States), worked as a senior product marketing specialist for the world s largest manufacturer of semiconductor assembly equipment, and, over the last 20 years, has researched and published numerous freelance articles on defense issues and aviation.
In 2002, Gaillard attended the Royal Institute of International Affairs defense conference in London, U.K.: Europe and America: A New Strategic Partnership, and subsequently wrote two related articles that appeared in Defense News. After Airways Magazine (July 2005) published his examination of the National Transportation Safety Board s flawed investigation of the American Airlines Flight 587 disaster, he served on a panel of analysts assembled for Airline Cracks, a documentary on load-bearing composite structures in commercial jetliners, telecast by ITV-West (Bristol, U.K.) on Oct. 4, 2005.
Gaillard is listed in Who s Who in America (2002, 2003, 2004 editions). His affiliations include (among others) the U.S. Naval Institute, the Federation of American Scientists, Nature Conservancy, and the Natural Resources Defense Council. He is a contributor
