About the Author

Alfred Stites and his wife Toni retired to Costa Rica in 2003, closing his rare book and antiquarian artifacts gallery in Santa Fe, NM. With a background in consulting to the arts as well as international corporations, he has visited 22 countries in his 93 years. Having been married to three wonderful women and having raised four perceptive children, he lives halfway up a sometimes moving volcano, and is known as "Don Alfredo" to the Ticos.
