The evolution from plunder by raids to plunder by trade began 800 to 1,000 years ago in the Free Cities of Europe. As those cities evolved into nations and those nations into empires, plunder by trade was plunder by both raids and trade was practiced. Plunder by trade has been the dominant feature of world trade since WWII. But the developing world is now aware and that structure of world trade may soon be history. In a properly established banking system, through adjustments in required reserves rather than changing interest rates, there need be no inflations or deflations. Created debt-free money can build most infrastructure, increasing required reserves in step with that money creation maintains a stable money supply. A proper banking structure can stop an economic collapse in its tracks. It can also rapidly industrialize undeveloped regions of the world. That proper banking structure, along with eliminating all other monopolies can reduce the workweek to 2 to 3 days per week with no loss of food, fiber, or shelter. World poverty can be eliminated in 10 years and a quality life for all can be attained in 50 years

About the Author:

J.W. Smith, with a PhD in Environmental Economics from Union Institute and University, Cleveland, Ohio has written six books on the elimination of poverty and war. He has been invited, and has presented, his concepts in 10 countries. commongoodbank.com is establishing a local currency banking system based on his insights on banking with the intended goal of providing banking services at 1/3 the cost of monopolized banking. Through a professors lecture, his concepts showed up in Indonesia's major newspaper and they are being studied at that university. He has had many such compliments from all over the world.

Review:

Only a handful of brief and highly focused books moved civilization forward. This is one of those rare books. Professor Glen T. Martin, author, Millennium Dawn --Professor Glen T. Martin

Dr. J.W. Smith charts a clear and brilliant path away from war and terrorism towards a peaceful and prosperous world economy. Alanna Hartzok, UN ECOSOC NGO Representative --Alanna Hartzok, UN ECOSOC, NGO Rep

Henry George would fully approve of Dr. J.W. Smith applying his philosophy (restructuring exclusive titles to nature's resources and technologies to conditional titles) across the economic spectrum. Ole Lefmann, a writer on the exclusive title principles of Henry George. --Ole Lefmann, Author
