About the Author:

Darrel and Sally Odgers were both born in Tasmania in 1957, and have been married since 1979. They have two grown up children, James and Tegan. Their first book together was published in the 1990s. The Jack Russell series is their most successful collaboration so far, and they thank their inspiration, Ace, for that: " She was lively, opinionated, busy, and always curious. She loved swimming, and playing ball games of her own invention. We were out walking one day and Ace, as usual, was sticking her nose into everything. "She's a real detective,"said Darrel. We spent the rest of the walk planning the adventures of a dog detective! When we wrote up the proposal for the series, we had Ace sign it with a paw print, for luck. It must have worked, because the Jack Russell: Dog Detective series has grown to eight books, with more to come."

Alan King conceived and developed this book in the period of time before he died, in May 2004. It would be his final accomplishment in a lifetime of prolific achievement.

He has been named a Best Male Narrator in the categories of Romance, Science Fiction, Militaria, and Mystery/Suspense, as well as "Favorite Dual Narrator" (with Natalie Ross). Phil also works in film, TV and radio, and is the Producer/Director of Gigantic Productions theatre company. He makes his home in the Midwest.

Bond is a producer and host of radio talk shows, with an extensive background in theatre and the musical stage.

From AudioFile:

Alan King's cacophony of dog and human voices will tickle the funny bone as dog detective Jack attempts to track down the dog mugger in downtown Doggeroo. Jack's attempts to interrogate dog witnesses, trap the criminals, and convey to his humans the results of his investigations will strike a chord with dog lovers. King's performance clearly differentiates the cast of characters, and dog crazy listeners will want to catch each of the silly dog puns. However, it's questionable whether the corny soundtrack and slapstick sound effects add anything to the story, and the numerous interruptions to define Jack's dog vocabulary are disruptive rather than clever. Still, the mystery may keep the attention of young listeners. C.A. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
