In a time of declining morals and values in our country, Americans can use a moral compass to help restore some of what made us a great nation. The newly published book written by established author Ed Douglas, 25 Truths: Winning Wisdom for a Better Lifecan help with this.
Here is the opening paragraph from this new book.
One Saturday morning, a young father was trying to work at home but his son kept competing for his attention. Frustrated, the father took a section of the newspaper that showed a map of the world and tore it into puzzle pieces. He then challenged his son to put the map together. In a surprisingly short amount of time, the son returned with the task completed. When the father asked how he had put the map together so quickly, the son replied that on the back of the map was a picture of a man and he figured that if he put the man together the world would fall into place. In years past, I reflected on the wisdom that I’ve gained as I’ve gotten older and came to the realization that there are a number of what could be called ‘life’s truths’ that I wish I had understood much earlier. It is my belief that understanding and practicing these truths can help put the ‘man’ together one person at a time so that, together, we can help the world fall into place.
This book is a practical and inspirational guide built around Christian principles, designed for discussion between parents and their children, teachers and their students and coaches and their athletes to help them understand what is important to live a better life. Each truth concludes with a page of discussion questions to help the reader analyze his own life and behavior to see how each truth applies to his own life. The truths cover a multitude of areas including making a difference in the world, caring and dealing effectively with others, building character, health and a winning attitude, what brings true happiness, the importance of faith and family, as well as essential practical truths.
Author Ed Douglas, CFP(TM) uses his own personal experience, along with scripture and inspiring quotes, to share his 25 essential truths that, if followed, can lead to a happy and fulfilling life.
Relying upon his successes as a businessman, husband, father and coach, Douglas offers the kind of life truths that are road-tested and a proven guide to living a good, Christian life.
This book began as a three-page list that Ed had compiled and titled ‘Life’s Truths’ or ‘25 Tips for an Enjoyable Life.’ He shared the list with friends, acquaintances, and students that he coached as the head high school tennis coach.
As Ed coached the team, he sought to get to know each of the boys and to share the insight of his twenty-five truths with them. Throughout the season, he worked his way through the list, simultaneously teaching a lifetime sport and a life-fulfilling lesson. He was not only teaching the young men how to improve their backhand, he was helping them strengthen their character.
After each truth there is a discussion page that can help facilitate discussion between parents with their children, teachers with their students, or coaches with their players. Among the many truths are the following:
Truth #4: Be Slow to Judge
Truth #7: Don t Hate—Instead, Forgive
Truth#9: Little Things Can Make a Big Difference
Truth #11: Take Life One Step at a Time
What do you do with these 25 truths? Read them, share them, discuss them, and live them! This book can be a blueprint for you as it has been for many others. If you allow it, this book will help you live a successful life - a better life!
If you want a book to help inspire and motivate your child to help you mold his or her character to make them all that they can be,-- this book is for you.

“It is my privilege to recommend 25 Truths. Ed is a shining example and a wonderful mentor of life skills. My two sons are better people because of Ed’s influence. The truths in this book are proven out in a life well lived. I have a multi-layered relationship with Ed. He was my banker. I am his pastor. My sons played on his tennis team. Now, Ed’s son is serving as an intern at my church. Ed’s truths are more than theories; they are proven principles. Everyone will greatly benefit from reading and applying these truths.”
--Stan Saunders, Pastor Cornerstone Church, Chillicothe, MO
“Wow, what a great book! As an outreach pastor, I have counseled many people dealing with problems that have all been addressed by these twenty-five truths. We all could have avoided mistakes in our lives had we followed these truths consistently. Ed has done a great job using scripture, famous quotes, and his personal stories to illustrate each truth. I believe this book is a must-read, whether you have it all together or if your life is falling apart. We could all use the wisdom that we will gain from Ed and begin applying it to our everyday lives.”
