Larry Smith is founder/director of Bottom Dog Press since 1985. He is the author of 8 books of poetry, a book of memoirs, Milldust and Roses (Ridgeway 2002), three books of fiction, including Faces and Voices: Tales (Bird Dog Publishing, 2006), and literary biographies on Kenneth Patchen and Lawrence Ferlinghetti. He has edited the following books for Bottom Dog Press: Cleveland Poetry Scenes: A Panorama and Anthology (2008), d.a.levy and the mimeograph revolution (2007); Family Matters: Poems of Our Families (2005); America Zen: A Gathering of Poets (2004), and Working Hard for the Money: Americas Working Poor with Mary Weems. He is professor emeritus of Bowling Green State University, Firelands College.
Philip Metres lives in University Heights, Ohio, and is the author of To See the Earth (poetry, 2008), Behind the Lines: War Resistance Poetry on the American Homefront since 1941 (criticism, 2007), Catalogue of Comedic Novelties: Selected Poems of Lev Rubinstein (2004), and A Kindred Orphanhood: Selected Poems of Sergey Gandlevsky (2003), and two chapbooks. He has been involved in the peace movement since the 1980s; he co-founded the Bloomington Coalition for Peace (Bloomington, Indiana) in the 1990s, and has worked with Pax Christi, Committee for Peace in the Middle East, Peace Action, and Tikkun. He is an associate professor of English at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. His paternal grandparents hail from Lebanon; were it not for Ellis Island, his last name would be Abourjaili. Ann Smith lives in Huron, Ohio, with her husband Larry. She is a professor emerita from the University of Toledo Health Sciences Center. She is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Mental Health Nursing and provides counseling, Therapeutic Touch, and Reiki at her Reiki and Counseling Center in Sandusky, Ohio. Ann was co-editor of Family Matters: Poems of Our Families (2005) and has written articles on family relationships in those families experiencing chronic pain. Ann and Larry are founding members of Voices for Peace and Justice and Converging Paths: Sandusky Bay Meditation Center in Northern Ohio. She instructs in mediation and non-violent communication.
