Written in a melodic tone, Good Night, Grandma eloquently portrays the special and enduring bond that exists between mother and child and how art in the form of music can be passed along from generation to generation in a most compassionate way.
The delicate yet bright palette of colors, along with the soft quiet strength of the images, evokes a sense of hope and peace, sensitivity and compassion.
Good Night, Grandma is a lasting reminder that while we may lose those we love, their beauty, wisdom and song can forever give us hope and peace.

Sandi Washburn has dedicated her life to working with children in schools. Sandi has been a member of emergency response teams for schools, helping students cope with the trauma and grief associated with catastrophic events that resulted in loss of life.
When her own mother became ill with cancer, her life and her daughters' lives were suddenly shaken. She reached out to hospice and it was there. She reached out to her mom and her daughters through talking and listening, through art and music, and through the creation of Good Night, Grandma. It is her hope that this book will encourage children to express their feelings and help them move through the deep emotions that come from losing a loved one.
