The timeless charm of pieced geese-themed blocks meets the classic beauty of appliquéd rose blocks in the featured quilt. Combining her love of machine piecing and hand appliqué, quilt designer Dawn Heese pays homage to these beloved quilt patterns of the past. A perfect project for appliquérs and piecers alike, this striking sampler of 12 blocks features six rose appliqué designs and six variations on the pieced geese block, such as Flying Geese and Goose in the Pond. Also included are two companion projects - a wallhanging-sized quilt and a pillowcase - that showcase the versatility of some of the blocks.
Also included in the book are Dawn's needleturn appliqué instructions useful for making all of the featured appliquéd blocks; a quick lesson in overdyeing fabric to create an instant aged look; and a bonus easy pincushion project for using up leftover flying geese units from the feature quilt.

Dawn Heese is a third generation quilter and an avid cross stitcher. Inspired by a quilt pattern in a magazine, she bought her first rotary cutter and mat in 1999 and hasn't stopped quilting since. She particularly enjoys needleturn applique classes. Her love of traditional patterns stems from fond childhood memories of being surrounded by quilts. Geese in the Rose Garden is her first book.
