Ron W. Henley earned the FIDE International Grandmaster title at the Madame Suharto Cup in Indonesia in 1982. He has also won events in Colombia, Mexico and Switzerland, as well as the 1977 World Open. Mr. Henley led the University of South Florida to victory in the 1976 Pan American Collegiate Team Championship. In addition, he won the 1977 ACUI Individual US College Championship. Throughout the 1990's Mr. Henley was Chief Trainer to the Twelfth World Champion Anatoly Karpov for nine matches, including three World Championships. In 1996 he coached the US Boys and Girls Team at the World Youth Championships in Cannes, France. He also sponsored and trained US Women's Champion Irina Krush and US Champion Hikaru Nakamura early in their brilliant careers.
