In the Better College Essay, Dr. Elizabeth Stone presents her strategies for helping students pen the best possible essays by prodding and encouraging them to dig deeply and think broadly. Collections of sample essays written by students admitted to elite colleges abound, but Dr. Stone explores the actual process through which students --with the help of mentors--can craft essays that will help them gain admission to the schools best suited to their ambitions and academic strengths. With before-and-after examples that demonstrate Dr. Stone's insights and advice, The Better College Essay outlines a course of action for adults to mentor and guide students to write essays that will help them fit in and stand out--and ultimately lead to a successful college experience. Foreword by Douglas L. Christiansen, PhD, Vice Provost for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions at Vanderbilt University.
