Steve Buckley is an author and freelance writer who loves to read and write about maritime history, largely focusing on events associated with the Age of Discovery and the Golden Age of Piracy. He created and wrote the Blackbear the Pirate adventures to help stir a child's imagination and to instill a sense of wonder and excitement in the minds of young readers; and to help find the inner pirate in us all! Steve resides in Maryland, with his lovely wife, Brenda. They have two sets of twins who are now fully grown, off on adventures and out pirating on their own.Ruth Palmer is an experienced and extremely versatile illustrator working in many areas but mainly in publishing and educational children's books. Ruth studied Art and Illustration at Harrow College of Art, Middlesex, England. She first worked for magazines doing story illustrations and then in advertising doing layouts and storyboards. For the last twenty years she has been illustrating in all areas, and has illustrated many books both educational and fictional in the UK and the USA. Ruth lives with her husband and teenage daughter in the beautiful Devon countryside in England.
