This work examined the reasons for Nietzsche's virulent verbal attack on Christianity, attacking with a hammer. This investigation revealed that Nietzsche came to disbelieve in any metaphysical realities that were part of the culture of his time. He posited that concepts like God, Heaven, Hell, life after death, another world besides this one, were all fictions, illusions that distract people from living the only life in the only world-this one. Nietzsche contended that Christianity was a holy lie and had fostered a false morality that had reversed the truth; priests and the religious hierarchy used the holy lie to control the masses and to militate against superior people, to keep them under the yoke of guilt and therefore subdued.
