As we proceed through life's opportunities and challenges, all of us need help from time to time. Sometimes, help comes from sources we might not have expected. Rock and Roll is one of those unexpected sources of wisdom because it has lyrics to address every problem life sends us. For example, you've probably realized by now that, "You can't always get what you want." The Rolling Stones made this line famous but I have distinct memories of my dad telling my brother and me the same thing, lots and lots of times. I got the message and there were plenty of other good ones on the radio that I heard but didn't quite understand until years later. Like me, you might have missed out on some good advice because the words didn't sink in. For example, maybe you heard: "Another one rides the bus." What Queen really sang is: "Another one bites the dust." Maybe you thought Stevie Wonder told you: "Science healed the liver, I'm yours." No way! He said: "Signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours." Okay, you got the message: you should have listened more closely because Rock and Roll has some cool messages. The wisdom found in Rock and Roll is the reason I wrote a book combining great lyrics with some wisdom I picked up through the years by way of raising children, leading people and growing older. In my book, the words of some of the best song writers in the world, like Billy Joel and James Taylor, teach us to: reject greed, safeguard marriages, pay attention to our children, be better friends, help one another, take better care of ourselves, appreciate work, love each other, chase dreams, remember that life is short, count our blessings and savor the time we've been given. There's plenty of help available in these areas of life because Rock and Roll lyrics contain countless nuggets of wisdom, sage counsel and the opportunity to consider the experiences of others.About the Author:
